Metabolic Testing
Metabolic Testing is used to frame the groundwork of your +/-Energy Balance.
Calories In - Total Calories Out = +/-Energy Balance
Resting Calories Out + Active Calories Out = Total Calories Out.
We measure O2/CO2 processing to find your metabolism
Resting Metabolic Rate(RMR)
Tells us how many calories the living tissue in your body needs, at rest, to stay active. That allows us to help design your eating plan without promoting a drop in metabolism, and loss of active tissue. The assessment takes 15-30 minutes, and is administered with a ventilator, while seated in a comfortable position.
Exercise Metabolic Rate(EMR)
Tells us how many calories you're burning, and how efficiently you are burning them, while in an aerobic state. This is also referred to as a "VO2 test". We then design a two-step cardiovascular program:
Step One - training in heart-rate zones where you burning calories most efficiently.
Step Two - design the plan to progress your ability to burn calories while increasing the amount of cardiovascular work you can do.
This test takes 9-15 minutes and can be administered on any piece of aerobic equipment.
RMR and EMR Testing give us a complete look at your energy balance, and allows us to design the most comprehensive program for our athletes.
VO2 Testing and Training
A similar protocol to the EMR testing, but we focus on compiled O2 data, rather than just aerobic efficiency. We can then base training programs on performance and efficiency.
This type of training is invaluable for ALL athletes, not just endurance athletes. Increasing your bodies ability to consume oxygen translates to:
-Quicker in-game recovery
-Higher sustained work output
-More rapid tissue repair
-Less "over training"
VO2 Peak Testing
This is a 3-10 minute extension of the EMR test, and the goal is to find an athletes maximum capacity of oxygen transport and utilization.

Muscle Function Testing
All clients of Tidal EPC start with an in depth muscle function assessment. Before we start stressing your body, we want to make sure that the muscles we are about to train are firing properly, and your joints are stable. We do that with joint positional testing that allows us to test tissue from a shortened position. From that position we can test contractile capability, responsiveness, and joint stability.
