Our trainers utilize Appropriate Forced Adaptation—the understanding that your body can only adapt a tolerable load that it can recover from. By training with varying modalities and applying progressive loads when appropriate, our personal trainers can implement these processes safely and effectively.

When you arrive at Tidal for the first time, we’ll take you through an in-depth assessment process that includes a medical history, performance profile, body assessment, and Muscle Activation Jumpstart session. Using the data from this assessment, we’ll develop a thorough and effective workout strategy for you.

VO2 PEAK & METABOLIC TESTING

Metabolic testing is an invaluable tool to find out how intensely you should be training, and how your body is responding to your training plan. At Tidal Elite Performance Center in Washington DC, we use the KORR Medical CardioCoach for metabolic testing. KORR’s CardioCoach uses a Mixing Chamber technology to analyze your body’s exertion by collecting all of your pulmonary output. Other products use an algorithm-based equation, while collecting only a small amount of exhalation. The Mixing Chamber method KORR uses is considered the gold standard for metabolic testing.

When working with one of the personal trainers at Tidal Elite, we’ll use the information collected from your KORR CardioCoach metabolic testing to design a specific training plan just for you. Whether you are training for a race, sport, or life, we’ll get you where you need to be with the safest and most effective training plan.

MUSCLE ACTIVATION TECHNIQUES (MAT)

This system used at Tidal is designed to evaluate and correct muscular imbalances that relate to dysfunction. It was developed by Greg Roskopf, who has worked as a consultant for various sports teams, including the Denver Broncos, Utah Jazz, and Denver Nuggets.

Muscle Activation Techniques uncover the cause of problems that lead to re-injury or inhibited sports/job performance, while eliminating the weak links that would otherwise be magnified by exercise. With MAT, proper biomechanics are restored to the body, enabling you to once again return to activities such as exercise, sports, or jobs that require a high level of physical ability.
